I have been struggling with the idea of what to write in my first post for a few days now. I have put so much pressure on myself to ensure I string together the right words for my possible readers, then I read this today.
Basically, it is so good I just have to share it.
“Renunciation on its own has no staying power. You can renounce bananas all you like, but if you continue to live in your banana home on your banana street, if you keep your job at the banana warehouse and hang out with your banana-gobbling friends, you’ll be eating bananas before you know it.” Meditations from the Mat by Rolf Gates and Katrina Kenison.
I love yoga, and that is a reoccurring theme you will probably find here a lot. Rolf and Katrina hit on the idea that many people attend yoga a few times a week and are entranced by the lifestyle that accompanies it and mistakenly they believe if they just go to a few more classes or go to a better studio, or on a retreat, their entire life will change. Yoga CAN change your life, but how much it changes is up to you (and most of the changes we aspire to see won’t be found within the walls of our 1 hour class). 😉
I try not to worry about how many “likes” I have on Facebook or “followers” on instagram, but I really felt the need to start this blog so other women out there who are busting their butts as Mom’s, Wives, Employee’s, Bosses, etc. WHATEVER their label may be can see my journey and know achieving balance in this wacked-out life just may be possible.
That being said, this is going to be a journey for you and for me. I am not perfect, and i do not want to be, I just want to be the best version of myself I can be–for me.
